2013 February – The Bug Man

Tony

God reminds us all the time that what we do counts for eternity. In just living our everyday lives, we are a witness of God’s faithfulness.

Tony was our “bug man,” a necessity here in Florida we soon found out after moving. He would come every few months and spray. As we talked, we learned that he was a Christian fascinated by how his Campus Crusade for Christ customers served the Lord. He kept asking deeper and deeper questions, especially about how we handled raising our financial support.

One day he came and said he was ready to take the plunge, give up bugs and go for it. He found a church who would work with him if he raised his support. His infectious personality and vision quickly spread to others and he and his wife were off to Romania. He’s the kind of guy who figures it out as he goes along and realized the gypsies were forgotten people. Now 17 years, 20 churches, and 4 children later, he is still figuring it out with tremendous impact. We don’t take any credit for what God did in Tony’s life any more than we can take credit if crops grow. We planted seeds (along with others) and let the Lord water and shine. Tony was good soil and sprouted. We have been thrilled to partner with him financially and in prayer for the past 17 years, just as many do in our lives. And God keeps growing those who are open to the truth of his word.

Why do we share this story? Because we believe there are many Tonys out there. We believe there are people like us who keep letting our light shine for Jesus until others catch the flame. Sometimes it barely lights a corner in a dark world. Sometimes it multiplies itself in the lives of others. But each day, it is a choice to let it shine.

Thank you for all the encouragement you have been in our lives and ministry. We are eternally grateful. Tony is eternally grateful. Romanian gypsies are eternally grateful. All we do, counts for eternity —                                                                                  Roger and Maggie signature blue cropped copy

PS – The news on Maggie’s broken leg was not the miracle we had desired. She still is not walking and unless there is significant improvement in the next month, we will be looking at surgery. Continue to pray for her, especially as I have a trip next month to Trinidad.
